Goodyear welted shoes
This construction was invented by Charles Goodyear in 1832. It's expensive, laborious and requires great skill and precision, but still represents the best shoe construction possible. The main peculiarity of this construction is to use a strip of leather called a "welt', which i upper, lining and insole of the shoe. A second seam attaches the welt to the sole. The cavity between the sole and the insole is filled with a natural material (usually cork), wi insulation and allows the insole to mould to the shape of the foot, whilst allowing the shoe to 'breathe' and provide a healthier environment for the foot. The materials - We use the best materials available: the finest calf leather for the 'uppers and vegetable-tanned leather for the sole.. Joe Dalborn shoes are designed to give to your feet the best comfort possible. They accommodate the foot and wrap it gently, but at the same time provide support. For the highest quality, time is an important ingredient. Making a pair of Joe Dalborn shoes is not something that can be hurried. There are approximately 200 operations and the whole process takes 8 weeks to complete. After completion, and before they can be boxed, every pair of Joe Dalborn shoes still has to pass a strict quality control.
